http://www.cre8ed.comcre8.ed - Creative Resources in Education - is an educational charity comprising a team of over 40 current professional practitioners in art, dance, drama and music, formed in 2000. cre8.ed offers schools and learning centres curriculum-linked resources and training which brings together the Expressive Arts with aspects of Religious Education and
Personal, Social and Health Education, and other areas of the curriculum.
It was formed following a huge successful project called JC2000, The Millennium Arts Festival for Schools. 18,300 schools (over half of the schools in the United Kingdom) participated by creating an arts presentation based on an aspect of the life and teaching of Jesus. Part of the work of JC2000 involved developing and implementing creative resources for schools. We trained over 2,500 teachers introducing our creative, fun and stimulating methodology and teachers made specific requests for these to continue along with further provision of new written resources and input directly into schools.
cre8.ed Aims:
- To enable the children of the UK to use the arts to explore, understand and appreciate the values and moral standards of the Judeo/Christian tradition.
- To provide schools and learning centres with creative and innovative training from an RE and Arts base, using written resources, video, CDs and workshops based on biblical texts.
- To provide creative resources on educational themes suitable for all schools, and for pupils and teachers of all faiths and none.
We have a database of approximately 23,500 schools to whom we market our services and over 120 voluntary partners. We publish teacher resource books and an informal newsletter is sent to all voluntary partners.
cre8.ed trains professional artists from across the spectrum of Christian backgrounds in our creative methodology for reaching out to the young people of the UK. In the future we would look to offering this special training to other countries.
